  Unlikeable & Unreliable Characters

This week, we look into unlikeable and unreliable characters. When should you write an unlikeable character? Where should he fit on the pyramid? What will keep a reader engaged in a narrative about an unlikeable character? There are lots of pitfalls to going this route, but if you navigate them well, an unlikeable character can be fun to write!

The unreliable narrator is covered in depth in the Story Works Guide to Writing Point of View, but we touch on it here.

The supplemental reading is a fantastic essay by one of today's best-known authors about the writing process.
